Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was once mined and used extensively in construction materials. Both non-friable and friable forms of asbestos have the potential to cause harm to human health, with friable forms posing the most immediate.

The soil environment is often complex, and soil contamination must be managed in careful consideration of human, ecological and environmental receptors to prevent health risks onsite and offsite.

Soil contamination may occur through current and historic land use practices or migration of contaminants from offsite sources. SESL adopt innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches to soil remediation in order to ensure that previously-contaminated sites are made suitable for future use.

SESL’s soil remediation strategies may employ onsite/offsite treatment or containment strategies using technology specific resources and contaminant-specific technologies.

SESL will deliver soil remediation services in the most resource-effective and cost-effective manner to ensure that clients meet their targets and achieve regulatory compliance.

Groundwater systems are diverse and may be complex. SESL’s team of environmental and soil scientists have extensive experience in the treatment of contaminated groundwater, whether at heavily polluted industrial sites or in marginally-impacted, natural systems that do not meet specific water quality objectives.

SESL have the expertise to model contaminated groundwater plumes and develop effective management plans to control and treat contaminated groundwater sources. SESL can design and install groundwater monitoring systems to prevent onsite and offsite groundwater contamination with technologies that range from physical remediation to biological, chemical and UV light remediation.


We conduct assessments and provide recommendations for remedial action. Where hazardous substances to health or the environment are present.

Our team of Environmental Scientists can manage site evaluations including Phase I assessments to identify environmental concerns and business risk. A Phase II subsurface investigation to determine the impact and can recommend a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) designed to minimise disposal to landfill and maximise sustainability.
