Our Laboratory provides a diverse range of landscape and urban horticultural tests. Some of these include passive amenity turf, sports fields (USGA), bunker sands, cricket wickets, mass planting, garden beds, street trees, on slab podiums, green walls, green roofs, rain gardens, stormwater filtration systems, wetlands and display beds. Our laboratory testing of sports fields and racetracks is fundamental to the success of our design and specification of new fields, as well as management and amelioration of these soils.

The capabilities of our laboratory enable our team to conduct a diverse range of testing on specialist soils for specification and validation. This testing concludes the suitability of soils for particular sites, inclusive of sensitive plant species.
Bespoke Soil Testing
Our laboratory conducts testing on commercial composts, mulch, soil conditioners and potting mixes. We provide the full range of testing as per AS 4454, 4419 & 3743. The testing assesses the performance and efficiency of both on-the-market and prior to market products. Additionally, SESL tests the chemical and physical characteristics to satisfy national compliance declarations and abide by Australian Standards and regulations in the industry. Fertiliser testing is also conducted inclusive of NPK ratios and micronutrient contributions.

Remediation & Revegetation
We conduct testing specific to the aim of soil rehabilitation and revegetation. At SESL, we provide roadside vegetation and revegetation testing for NSW RMS R178, R179 and QLD MRTS form testing. We also conduct testing specific to the rehabilitation of soils located on old mine sites.

Plant Tissue Testing
Plant tissue analysis allows you to determine the nutrients for optimal crop production and quality. It also allows for an in-depth understanding of the interaction between the soil media and the plant nutrient uptake. Our laboratory testing can provide results which can then be used to get to the root of plant issues. Plant performance or failure can be the result of a range of factors, including poor nutrients, unsatisfactory conditions (climate, competition or soil), poisoning or surrounding hazardous material. SESL’s laboratory is equipped with the knowledge and experience to get to the root of your plant’s issues.
