SESL Australia turns 42!

This year, SESL Australia reached a special milestone: 42 years of supporting Australian Soil, Environmental and Horticultural Science.  To celebrate, the SESL Australia team came together for a BBQ to celebrate the people who have helped make SESL Australia what it is today.

SESL Australia was founded by Simon Leake in 1984 which began in the garage of his home.  Today we are an independent consultancy and laboratory based in Thornleigh, with more than 20 staff providing practical and reliable scientific testing and advice.  Over the past 42 years, SESL Australia has worked on projects ranging from Barangaroo Reserve in Sydney, Australia, elite racing tracks and sportsfields around the country, to the King Salman Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and many more.  From laboratory research and testing, to fieldwork, consulting, and project management, our work is made possible by a dedicated team bringing together diverse skills and expertise.

Reflecting on the last 42 years, Simon attributes SESL Australia’s longevity and success to its courage to look outside ‘the square’, experience and client relationships:

One great benefit of our extensive experience in analysis and consulting is that we have encountered numerous problems and can almost always find a solution for a client.  There isn't a week that goes by when SESL doesn't encounter a new problem requiring scientific analysis and experience to solve.

The other great benefit is the client relationships we build through effective client engagement and making a real contribution to their problem solving or their projects.  SESL has loyal clients going back over 30 years which is a testament to our service and the skills of our staff.

I would like to thank all SESL staff for their dedication and enthusiasm and all our clients for their faith in us and loyalty.

As we look towards the future, we're proud of the foundations that have been built over the past four decades and excited for what’s ahead.  Most of all, we’re grateful to everyone who has been part of the SESL Australia journey; our current and former team members, clients, industry partners and everyone who has supported us along the way.
