Growers of all kinds encounter plant problems. Horticulturists, agronomists, floriculturists,
landscapers and home gardeners alike, will have experienced plant problems that are not just puzzling but can be costly. Some problems caused by pests for example can be relatively simple to identify because you can often see them or the tell-tale damage they leave behind (think half-eaten fruits by possums or large holes in leaves from hungry caterpillars). Soil moisture problems (both excess and shortage) will invariably result in wilting. Other problems, however, can be more difficult to diagnose.
SESL Australia has a number of different services that can help growers of all kinds and capabilities solve their plant problems.
(1) Plant tissue testing – complete analysis of your leaf tissue samples to identify whether your plants have a nutrient deficiency or toxicity and we will give you advice on how to correct it.
(2) Soil testing –comprehensive analysis of critical soil qualities that will influence plant
performance. Soil pH, salinity, cation exchange capacity, nutrients (eleven essential macro,
micro and trace nutrients), organic matter, organic carbon. It also includes an examination of the physical condition of your soil including texture, structure and estimated permeability
for example.
(3) Plant pathogens – our in-house experts can assist with diagnosis of common plant
pathogens including soil-borne pathogens, wood decaying pathogens or vector spread
diseases.
SESL Australia’s experts will identify the analytical services you need, provide recommendations for soil and/or plant management, and put you back on the path to growing success. Early diagnosis can also provide cost savings on unnecessary fertilisers by maximising yields and increasing plant health and soil resilience.
